Mom and baby exercise

Mom and baby exercise can be a great way to do something for yourself while at the same time having fun with your baby. Your baby gets activated, stimulated and will have some fun.

Tips for exercises:

  • Walking
Take a walk, would be the easiest way to get some exercise. Your baby will have some fun too while looking around. With older babies, go somewhere where there are a lot of people to look at and a lot of variation.
  • Jogging
When your baby is 6 months old or so, you can put him in a jogging stroller and hit the trail. Many babies find it extremely exciting to go fast.
  • Cycling
When your baby is around eight months old, and sits steadily, you can put him in a bicycle child seat. Get tthe CoPilot Taxi Bicycle Child Seathttp://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=childcare0f-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000G22QHW at Amazon and take your baby for a ride. Don't forget to put on a helmet of the right size (One for you and one for your baby!)

Benefits for babies depends on the exercises you make, but here are some examples:
  • Strengthens bond with mother
  • Relaxes
  • Enhances physical development
  • Promotes bone growth
  • Improves perception of body
  • Helps coordination and agility
  • Improves concentration
  • Stimulates neurological and motor development

During the nine months of pregnancy, your body will have undergone many changes, so now you want to  back in shape. Look around and see if you can find mother and baby exercise classes where the two of you can enjoy a 'workout' together? Also the exercise regimes such as pilates can be very beneficial to you both. Go for the programs where mother and baby will be in physical contact, which stimulates production of oxytocin, the so-called 'love-hormone' which may help in the bonding process. In addition, close physical contact allows the mother to become familiar with her baby and experience close-up the motor and sensorial development of her little one. You can begin to exercise around four to six weeks after birth. (Eight weeks after a cesarean). Both you and baby will benefit in many ways from exercise, especially if you do it together.
